Our teachers have had a passion for dance since they were little. That passion took them through their schooling and on to performing or teaching dance. Now they want to share that passion with our students.
Mommy & Me, Ballet, Pointe and Modern Teacher
Alyce graduated Magna Cum Laude from Temple University with a BFA in dance. During that time, she performed with the Philadelphia Civic Ballet and Ballet South where she was a soloist. Upon graduation Alyce moved to New York City to study at the Martha Graham School, where she was on scholarship for three years. During that time she performed collaborative and independent choreographic works with various company members, as well as performing with several other companies. Alyce then began teaching workshops at the 92nd Street YMCA. Upon her return to Philadelphia, she performed at The Painted Bride and was on scholarship at Philadanco. She then resumed position as owner of the Barn Studio of Dance.

Tara’s story of dance began when she was a toddler. She performed many styles of dance including, jazz, tap, and hip-hop. In high school, she continued her love of performing as a member of the colorguard team. Tara decided to expand her knowledge of dance when she attended Kutztown University. There she studied Elementary Education with a Concentration in Dance. Tara was able to grow as a dancer through many forms of dance including: Jazz, Ballet, Musical Theater, African Dance, Modern, and choreographic process. Tara has attended a variety of master classes in Philadelphia, New York City, Chicago, Alaska, Hawaii, and London.She participated in her first Zumba® class three years ago. The energy, music, dancing, and party atmosphere instantly had her hooked. She became a licensed Zumba® Instructor in April of 2013, allowing her passion for dance to grow.
Kathleen Dwyer began her ballet training with Olga Kresin at the Barn Studio of Dance. She graduated magna cum laude in 2001 from MercyhurstCollege with a Bachelor of Arts in dance/ arts administration. Kathleen danced professionally for six years with the Louisville Ballet, and previously with several other companies including the Lake Erie Ballet, Channel Islands Ballet, and Charleston Ballet Theatre. Over the years she has danced many of the classical ballets and in various ballets and works by world-renown choreographers such as George Balanchine, Paul Taylor, Twyla Tharp, Val Caniporoli, Andre Prokovsky, Helen Pickett, Amy Sewiert, Adam Hougland, Mark Godden, Ben Stevenson, and many others. For the past fifteen years, Kathleen has instructed at several different dance schools, teaching ballet, pointe, variations, creative movement and even public school dance education.

Susan’s background is based in classical ballet. From the age of 3-21, she studied at numerous studios and danced semi-professionally with the Devon Festival Ballet Co. in Devon PA. After taking a break to have her three children, she became a certified aerobics instructor in 2005. She has taught cardio, strength and toning classes for years. In 2008, Susan discovered Zumba Fitness and found that it was the perfect combination of her two passions - dance and fitness. She became a certified Zumba instructor in 2010 and has taught classes for several dance and fitness studios in Montgomery County. Susan still loves ballet and continues to take adult classes at the Barn Studio in Souderton. For two years she has performed with the studio holding lead roles such as the Sugarplum Fairy in Nutcracker and Blue Bird in Sleeping Beauty.
Susan lives in Schwenksville with her husband and three children.
Jazz and Hip-Hop Teacher
Brittany is a graduate of Illinois State University where she earned degrees in Dance Education and Earth and Space Science Education. Brittany was a member of Illinois State Dance Theatre, a pre-professional dance company. With this company she had the opportunity to work with artists such as Denise Vale, Sandra Kauffman, Jon Lehrer, Santo Scavuzzo, Joanna Rosenthal, Kim Neal Nofsinger, Randy Duncan, and Julie Tice. Brittany specializes in modern, jazz, hip hop, african, contemporary, and ballet. Her choreography has been performed at multiple American College Dance Festivals as well as BET’s show 106 & Park. She recently completed an Internship with Dance/USA in Washington DC where she worked with April Gruber, Amy Fitterer and the San Francisco Ballet to coordinate their annual conference.
